Where Life Happens...

Today at Designing For Life - Kari and Kijsa are asking everyone to post about their favorite spots in their homes and answer a few questions. My most favorite area would definitely have to be this little corner in my bedroom - it has my name written all over it. I love sitting here! It is truly my own space - my own to rest, my own to read, my own to pray, etc. This spot is incredibly special!

The girls asked us to share three things:

1. Where it is in your home: my bedroom
This is a corner that exudes tons of natural light - the windows go almost to the ceiling. I grab a nearby throw, put my feet up and read my Bible or any good book of my choosing. Most mornings I hear the birds singing and chirping outside, while a nice cool breeze lightly blows through the windows. The little Bombay table opens up - the front folds down and I can put all my books in there. It also has a small drawer that holds pens, notepads, and coasters for drinks. And yes, that is a faux plant..and quite dusty I might add!
2. Your favorite style: I'm definitely a traditional girl, with a little bit of french country, modern country and shabbiness thrown into the mix. I would love to have a beautiful home that looks just like it came out of a magazine spread, but unfortunately, my designing skills aren't quite there yet!
3. A favorite item in the room: my fireplace - it is across from my bed and so cozy on brisk mornings. I can turn that sucker on and enjoy its warmth and ambiance. We use it almost every day during the winter.

Where is a favorite area in your home?

I think this spot is wonderful. I am sure a cup of coffee, fire, and reading your Bible are a peaceful time. On quiet mornings must be a perfect spot.
Thanks for sharing,
Debra

What a beautiful spot to sit and read in! Your bedroom must be quite large. I would love a fire place in mine but would be afraid I would never get out of bed in winter! Rachaelxo

As an avid reader, I can totally appreciate a good reading chair!

We're just getting settled and I don't really have a spot that's all mine, yet, but for now I'm going to say our screened in porch.
It's so nice out there with the fan going, especially now that it's cooling off a little.

Your bedroom looks beautiful. I'd curl up there too.

I was really drawn to that special spot of yours. Drawn as in I could picture myself right there experiencing the birds, my coffee, reading my Bible and all the things you mentioned. Very nice!

Oh, what a pretty little corner ... It looks so warm and inviting, no wonder you love it.

Thank you for your nice commments about my kitchen. I'm so glad to hear that someone else has discovered the joy of induction cooking. Isn't it wonderful!

beautiful.

i have a corner in my room that is waiting for a cozy chair, ottoman, lamp, and side table, with throw.

a favorite place in my home...well, a look at my blog will show i enjoy M.E.

i think my home is my "spot" or "area." it is a refuge from the world, and i am me, and loved here. that is a blessing. something i never had as a child, something i value as an adult.

~ Humility ~

Humility is perpetual quietness of heart.
It is to have no trouble.
It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore,
To wonder at nothing that is done to me,
to feel nothing done against me.
It is to be at rest when nobody praises me,
And when I am blamed or despised;
it is to have a blessed home in myself
where I can go in and shut the door
and kneel to my Father
in secret and be at peace,
as in a deep sea of calmness, when all
around and about is trouble.
